Midtown Manhattan

Everyone is raving about the new watercolor ground (gesso) where you can paint watercolor on any surface.  I thought I would give it a try.  After brushing it on the canvas and waiting 24 hours for it to dry, I used my regular watercolors to paint this scene of the Chrysler Building on the canvas panel.  It was interesting to see that it really worked and the paint could be easily manipulated.  I think I would use it again and would give it a B+ but there is no comparison.  I would never give my beautiful watercolor paper that I know so well.

I would love to know you thoughts about watercolor ground and how you use it.
