Back in 2001, my husband and I attended a wedding in Seattle and the next day we intended to take the ferry from Anacortes, Washington to Victoria, British Columbia for a medical meeting.  The date was September 11th.  We drove from Seattle to Anacordes  and just as we arrived, the border closed.  We spent a week in this quaint, beautiful waterfront city on Fidalgo Island trying to get back home to New York.  We'll never forget the wonderful hospitality of the people who welcomed us so warmly.  They will be in our hearts forever
