Hot off the easel, my newest painting!

Rising from the Mist

I was just playing around with color today and a mountain theme started to evolve.  I charged in color for the rocks and the river and decided it needed more emphasis on the mood of the river with mist rising.  As I continued painting, I realized what appeared to be a face observing the scene from the heavens.  It's always fun to experiment with color because you never know what to expect.

Central Park South

Officially, it's 59th Street but New Yorkers call it Central Park South because it is the southern border of Central Park.

The architecture in New York City is very unique and some of the best examples of this are the buildings right here on 59th Street, such as the Plaza Hotel and the Hampshire House with their copper ornamentation.

This is a special view from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's roof garden looking south over the tree-tops of Central Park.

New York State of Mind

New York City has certainly dodged a bullet this winter.  We have had virtually N0 snow since the Halloween storm but that's a blessing compared to last year's record snow.

This is a scene from one of my favorite areas of the City.  Right outside Grand Central Terminal at 43rd Street taxi cabs turn onto Lexington Avenue and a lone pedestrian tries to hail a cab on a chilly rainy night.

No matter the weather, rain, snow or sunshine, New York City is a dynamic place and you will surely find your "New York State of Mind".
