After the Storm

After the Storm

I photographed this view of the trees in our side garden a couple of weeks ago after a record snowstorm and decided to paint my impression of the scene, After the Storm.  We've certainly had our share of nasty weather this winter with weeks of below freezing temperatures and over 60 inches of snow.  I love the snow but I think I'm ready for Spring!.  I hope you enjoy this painting.

Morning Colors Light the Slough

Morning Colors Light the Slough

This painting depicts an area in the Skagit Valley in the northwestern corner of Washington State between Seattle and Vancouver, BC.  Its defining feature is the Skagit River that snakes through local communities and in the Spring, the Valley is home to the famous Tulip Festival.

The scene was photographed by my friend Gary Hamburgh, www.garyhamburgh.com who kindly allowed me to paint from his photograph.  Thank you so much Gary.
